SARA MEETS LUCY – DOUBLE A SIDE 7”

Catalogue number TTT014

A long time ago, when we were young and at school waiting to watch BBC For Schools And Colleges broadcasts, the BBC would play music. There were two very specific tunes they used as a prelude to the educational programmes: for junior school broadcasts they would use Sara’s Tune. For Secondary Schools they used A Tune For Lucy. You may well remember the strange BBC holding page at the time, known as the BBC Diamond this would sort of eat itself and then turn into two other diamonds. Some example here including a video of how it was done.

These are sublime little tracks, both two minuets long. So not only have a put this perfect pair together, but because they are just so great I have pressed each track twice – so the A Side has Sara’s Tune followed by Sara’s Tune, The AA Side has a Tune For Lucy, followed by A Tune For Lucy. I have done this as I’d like to hear them both immediately after I have already played them, so this saves me having to lift the needle and put it back to the beginning again. Good idea I reckon. Anyway, 300 copies, your chance to own these geeky nostalgic tunes, on vinyl for the first time ever.

Sara’s Tune: Written by David Lord and played by The Prime Ensemble

A Tune For Lucy: Written by Inigo Kilborn, performed by the Inigo Kilborn Quintet.
